How do I prepare the surface prior to a first-time application of Permanon?

A clean surface void of any waxes, tar/oil, bug residue, etc. is very important. Click on the following link to view our 2-page cleaning instructions guide: Cleaning Instructions

How to mix 5% or 10% of Permanon with water:
The 500 ml (16.9 oz) and 1 liter (33.8 oz) bottles of Permanon include a 50 ml (1.69 oz) measuring cap.  For a 5% solution, simply pour one 50 ml cap of Permanon into an empty 32 oz spray bottle (with adjustable spray head for a fine-mist application), then add enough clean water to fill the the bottle to the 32 oz mark.  If no mark, the simply add four generous cups of water. For a 10% solution, pour 100 ml (two 50 ml caps) of Permanon into the empty 32 oz spray bottle and fill the rest with clean water.

For larger jobs, use a one (1) gallon garden sprayer.  For a 5% solution, pour 190 ml (3-3/4 measuring caps) of Permanon into the empty one gallon container, then fill with water.  For a 10% solution, pour 379 ml (7-1/2 measuring caps) of Permanon into the empty one gallon container, then fill with water.

To make applications fast and easy for jobs covering large areas, use the 50800 VITON Hand Pump Compression Sprayer.

Purified water is recommended to avoid the possibility of hard-water spotting.  However, it is not required.  Clean tap water can be used so long as the surface is dried with a lint-free cloth immediately after application.  All public water contains minerals that can create "water spots" if left to dry in the sun.  Proper application and drying techniques will insure appropriate results.

How much Permanon will I need to treat my vehicle/vessel?
When applied by a professional or trained person using professional equipment, we have found that one 32 oz container will cover an average area of 323 square feet (40 square meters).  Or, a one gallon container will cover an average area of 1,292 square feet (120 square meters).

In general, when sprayed properly with a fine-mist sprayer, one 32 oz spray bottle will cover approximately two mid-sized sedans. A one gallon container will cover approximately two trailer trucks or three full-size RV's.

NOTE: These coverage area estimates are based on a proper "fine-mist" application.  These values can vary from user to user and cannot be guaranteed.  Also, Permanon cannot adhere to itself and therefore cannot be "layered".  Do not over-apply Permanon otherwise you will waste the product.

For new vehicles or boats, the surface only needs to be cleaned and free from wax or silicone treatments prior to the application of Permanon.

For used boats, cars, trucks, buses and RV's, if the gel-coat or clear coat is dull or oxidized, the surface will require polishing to restore the gloss prior to the application of Permanon.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT apply Permanon
in direct sun-light or on a hot surface
to avoid water spotting or application
inconsistencies.

1.) Clean the surface to be protected.  Be sure that the cleaning product you use does NOT contain any wax, silicone, oil, petroleum, polymer or other additives that leave any residues.  If a wax or silicone treatment was applied more than three months ago, then a solution of clean water with Dawn dish detergent will suffice.  Otherwise, treatments applied within the past three months can be safely removed with EXTREME Simple Green Aircraft & Precision Cleaner.

For extremely difficult stains such as bird droppings, tree sap, and heavy exhaust staining, use PSˇPaste (Power Soap). Add a little PSˇPaste to a soft wet sponge or cloth and rub onto the soiled area, rinse thoroughly with water prior to the application of Permanon.

PSˇPaste is also suitable for cleaning any delicate surfaces including leather, carpet, tenders and fenders to name a few. PSˇPaste will also remove pen marks from leather.  This is an extremely powerful cleaner that will not harm sensitive surfaces.

2.) For all first time applications we recommend a 10% solution of Permanon. Future maintenance applications will then only require a 5% solution.

For boats/ships with a gel-coat we recommend a 10% solution for new coatings that are 1-5 years old and where the surface has been well maintained. Future maintenance applications will then only require a 5% solution.

For boats/ships with an aging gel-coat surface we recommend a 20% - 50% solution, followed by 10% applications for future maintenance.  Gel-coat, depending on the quality of its application and continued maintenance, can be much more porous than auto paint or polyurethane paints.  A high-strength concentration of Permanon will insure maximum protection as well as provide a good foundation for ongoing maintenance.  Full-strength applications (100% concentrate) of Permanon Yacht Supershine will provide the maximum level of UV protection for problem areas where fading occurs regularly (e.g. varnished wood, top-side surfaces that are regularly exposed to and affected by direct exposure to sunlight).

Use a standard 32 oz spray bottle (found at most hardware stores) with an adjustable spray nozzle for a fine-mist application. Pour 50 ml (5%) or 100 ml (10%) of Permanon into the spray bottle, then fill with clean water to the 32 oz mark (if no mark, then simply add four generous cups of water).  To make applications fast and easy for large jobs, use the 50800 VITON Hand Pump
Compression Sprayer
.

3.) It's fast and easy to apply. Just lightly mist Permanon onto the surface. For vertical surfaces start from the top and work your way down.  Permanon bonds instantly so no additional buffing or polishing is required.  Simply wipe away any remaining water with a Microfiber or other lint-free cloth.

Maintenance

Permanon can easily be maintained throughout the season by following some simple guidelines.

After the first application of Permanon you will notice the surface is extremely hydrophobic and water will easily run off or bead. This beading indicates the coating is working and repelling water and dirt as well as maintaining a good level of gloss and UV protection. It is important that the vehicle/vessel be washed when required.  For light/general cleaning, simply rinse with water and Microfiber, squeegee or blow dry.  For more aggressive dirt, wash with Dawn Original dish detergent, rinse and dry.

Pay attention to the water beading after each wash.  So long as the water continues to bead up, then the protection is still in place.  But when you begin to see the water laying flat, then that is your indicator that it is time for a maintenance application of Permanon.  Wash with a clean detergent like Dawn Original dish detergent (no soaps!), then apply a 5% solution of Permanon Platinum (cars) or Yacht (boats). Then Microfiber, squeegee or blow dry.

Application Instructions for:
ˇ Permanon Glass

1.) Use a standard 32 oz spray bottle (found at most hardware stores) with an adjustable spray nozzle for a fine-mist application. Pour 50 ml of Permanon Glass into the spray bottle, then fill with clean water to the 32 oz mark (if no mark, then simply add four generous cups of water) for a 5% solution.  To make applications fast and easy for jobs covering a large area, use the 50800 VITON Hand Pump Compression Sprayer.

2.) Lightly mist the Permanon solution onto the glass surface and wipe dry with a Microfiber or other lint-free cloth.

Most, if not all public water contains minerals that can cause water spotting if left to dry in the sun. For best results use distilled or purified water.

Application Instructions for:
ˇ EXTREME Simple Green Aircraft &
  Precision Cleaner

1.) Dilute one 32 oz bottle of Extreme Simple Green in 1-2 gallons of water.

2.) Thoroughly wash the surface with a soft clean sponge.

3.) Rinse.

No drying is required since all
Permanon products can be applied
to a wet surface, but should be dried immediately after applying Permanon to avoid water spotting.

a degreaser when applied full strength.  Let the treatment remain on the surface for a few minutes, then power rinse.

Application Instructions for:
ˇ PSˇPaste
